MS+ Research
MS+ Research is the curated watchlist maintained by the Momentum Screener team. We use it to highlight securities we are monitoring so you can compare our research list with the current momentum rankings. You may also see it called Momentum Screener Favorites or the Momentum Screener Watchlist in settings.
What the MS+ badge means
The MS+ badge identifies a security on our research watchlist. Watchlist membership reflects our selection; momentum rankings measure price trends. A high momentum rank alone does not make a security an MS+ selection.
MS+ is separate from the personal watchlists you create. Adding a security to your own watchlist does not give it an MS+ badge or change our list.
How the Free preview works
The Free preview highlights the overlap between our watchlist and current momentum leaders. A security must be on the MS+ watchlist and rank in the top five of at least one enabled strategy in our research screen to qualify.
The five momentum strategies are the 12-month, 9-month, 6-month, and 3-month Trend views, plus Composite. A security can qualify in several strategies and still appears only once in the preview. The preview can contain fewer than five names when fewer watchlist securities meet the criteria.
These qualifications use our research screen's universe and settings. They can differ from the ranks or list positions in your own screen. See How momentum rankings work for the distinction between strategy rank and list position.
Why an MS+ security can appear outside the Free universe
The regular Free stock universe consists of S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 members. MS+ previews come from our broader research screen, so a qualifying selection can appear even if it belongs to neither index. Its inclusion does not expand the rest of the Free universe.
Reading the tooltip
Hover over the MS+ badge, or focus it with your keyboard, to see the available details:
- Current qualification names the strategy in which the selection qualifies.
- Qualifies in lists multiple qualifying strategies. For example, “12 month trending • Composite” means the selection meets the preview criteria in both views.
- Published, when available, gives the supplied publication date for the selection.
The qualification labels describe current momentum evidence. They do not indicate an entry price, a holding period, or a guarantee that the trend will continue.
Accessing the full watchlist with Edge
Free and Core provide selected previews. With Edge, you can add the complete curated watchlist to your screener table:
- Open Settings and select Investment List.
- Find Momentum Screener Favorites in the list settings.
- Enable its toggle to include the watchlist in your table.
These inclusions appear regardless of your current universe or screening filters. If a security seems outside your chosen criteria, check whether it carries the MS+ badge. The list stays up to date as our curated watchlist changes. See Plans and billing for subscription details.
Why selections change
Our watchlist can change as we update the securities we are monitoring. Preview membership also depends on the latest completed rankings and the enabled research strategies. A security can leave the Free preview because it no longer qualifies in the top five, even while remaining on the full watchlist.
An empty preview means no overlap is available for that refresh; it does not necessarily mean the full watchlist is empty. Rankings use completed end-of-day data, while some displayed prices can update during the session. See Market data, updates, and delays.
Using MS+ in your research
Use MS+ as a starting point for closer review. Open a selection's chart, compare its strength across the momentum strategies, and review the available company and volatility information. Save candidates to your own watchlist to follow them alongside your other research.
MS+ is provided for informational and educational purposes. Inclusion is not a buy recommendation, and removal is not a sell instruction. The watchlist does not specify portfolio weights or evaluate suitability for your circumstances. Read our Risk & Disclaimer for the broader limitations.
